Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Martin Barrios died from complications as a result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty while serving at the Tucson Sector at 2430 South Swan Road in Tucson.

Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Barrios was a Unites States Navy veteran and had served with the United States Department of Homeland Security – Customs and Border Protection – United States Border Patrol for over 18 years. He is survived by his wife, two children, and two siblings.

Beginning in early 2020, due to the requirements of their job, thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders throughout the United States contracted COVID-19 during the worldwide pandemic. Hundreds of law enforcement officers died from medical complications as a result of contracting the virus while remaining on duty and interacting with the community.
