Captain Janelle Sanders died as the result of cancer that she developed following her assignment to the search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site following the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks.
Captain Sanders had served with the New York City Police Department for 22 years and was assigned to the 32nd Precinct. She is survived by her two daughters.
