Deputy Sheriff Jarett Oroszi died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty.
He had initially contracted the illness in August 2021 and experienced lingering cardiac effects. He contracted COVID-19 a second time in early 2022 and continued to experience side effects. He suffered a cardiac event on February 17th, 2022, and was not able to be revived.
Deputy Oroszi had served with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office for eight years and was assigned to the Motor Unit. He is survived by his parents, two sisters, and five nieces and nephews.
